Stepping to the Flight Line: Taking the FT Aviator Drone Controller for a Spin

I constantly tell my family and friends that I’m one of the luckiest guys alive since I get to go out and fly for a living. For the many professional drone fixed-wing and rotary-wing pilots out there, I’m sure you can relate. Flying is absolute freedom. It’s a huge amount of focused fun, whether you’re physically up in the sky, or commanding a drone from a mobile command vehicle or even a park bench. What’s so rewarding for us here at Fluidity Technologies is that we’re now able to demonstrate our pre-production FT Aviator drone controller. Our controller makes it so much easier to fly like a pro!

Taking Flight is as Easy as 1-2-3

Pre-flight of your FT Aviator and DJI drone is a snap:

  1. Assemble the FT Aviator drone controller with its smartphone attachment arm, connect your smartphone to the DJI radio with the appropriate USB cable, and clip it onto the Fluidity provided lanyard
  2. Power up your drone, open our app, and you are “Clear for Takeoff”
  3. Press the launch button to spool up your rotors, and a slightly squeeze your index finger to command your drone to rise

Your Thumb Becomes the Virtual Nose of the Drone

With our four degrees-of-freedom control managed by your dominant hand, your flight control wish is the drone’s command, almost subconsciously following the movements of your thumb. Within seconds you’ll be flying Figure 8’s and inward-facing, ascending spirals. With FT Aviator, you’ll have the confidence to take your piloting to the next level.

More Videos Coming Your Way

Keep an eye out for a series of short videos on our YouTube channel demonstrating many of the FT Aviator’s unique capabilities for flight control, situational awareness and camera management “on the fly.” We’ll also share cinematography tips on how to fly and acquire the most impactful video sequences with the much-simpler-to-operate FT Aviator. Stay tuned!
